My sister eloped! When going through the list of beautiful venues she had to pick from in Florida she landed on the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida. I have never seen a more beautiful venue or location. While I was there to support her, she requested an intimate wedding with just her, her fiancé, and her bonus sons, so my kids and I go to explore the grounds.
The Ringling Museum is a Blue Star sponsor museum meaning as a military family we were able to get into the museum completely free. There are two buildings housing artifacts from the Ringling family and the circus. As you enter the first building you are brought back to that childhood colorful feeling of being in the big top tent as you stare at a larger-than-life mural on the entrance wall. The colors and interactive areas were perfect for my two boys. Their favorite part was the sprawling model display showing every aspect the circus had to offer from beginning to end. My personal favorite was trying my luck at being a tightrope walker.
While the museum buildings are magnificent, their true gem is their garden areas. Features walk through rose gardens and whimsical trees that lead you down detailed mosaic paths to an oceanfront veranda. The oceanfront area allows you to picnic and takes in the relaxing views. The grounds have multiple treats and eats options, available for a full day including a food truck, Starbucks, and sit-down restaurant.
This area makes for an amazing place to update your family pictures. There are multiple locations to get the perfect look. I highly suggest a lifestyle session from Lucy Photography. She took amazing pictures truly capturing all the beauty my sister and new brother-in-law possess.
We will definitely be returning to Ringling Museum to explore more of the grounds and surrounding area. Visit the Ringling Museum Website and add this to your list of hidden Florida gems.
Congratulations to my the new Mr. and Mrs. I am so glad to have you as part of our family.
